Additionally, we’re excited to announce a host of upcoming capabilities and services from the VMware Marketplace portfolio that will accelerate our customers ‘cloud adoption journeys and our partners’ go-to-market strategies with VMware.

Recent innovations in digitalization have had profound impacts in almost every aspect of our lives, from food and healthcare to personal finance and manufacturing. At the heart of this are innovative computer applications that are smarter and more powerful than ever. In part, this is fueled by the wide range of tools available to build applications, and the breadth available in the multi-cloud IT infrastructure to run those applications. Therefore, it is vital for organizations across industries to give their development and technology teams access to the most comprehensive set of software tools to build, run, and manage these applications. Everyone on the stack, from IT administrators to DevOps engineers, developers and business users, need quick and easy access to tools to innovate quickly, build efficiently, and manage efficiently.

The need for an accessible ecosystem

At VMware, we seek to empower our users by empowering them to choose the right set of tools for their unique goals. We build deep and meaningful partnerships with industry peers to support our clients’ choices across their comprehensive technology stacks. We also make it easy to find and use these partner solutions through the VMware Marketplace. VMware Marketplace is that one-stop-shop – with over 2,100 solutions covering categories such as security, storage, networking and more, where customers can discover and deploy validated and certified ecosystem solutions for all businesses. Discover, try, buy, deploy

Today, we’re proud to announce the launch of commercial features on the VMware Marketplace, making it the one-stop place to discover, try, buy and deploy solutions from the VMware ecosystem!

We have started the initial phase of our business transaction journey with our design partners at Catchpoint, LicenseFortress and One Convergence.

In future phases, we plan to expand our business capabilities to include other forms of payments and types of offers, including payment by invoice, credit funds-based transactions and usage-based billing.

Facilitate the digital innovation journey of our customers

VMware Marketplace is home to a robust catalog of validated and certified artifacts and images that ensure users are interoperable with their choice of VMware platform. VMware Marketplace reduces friction related to customer consumption, with its easy filter / search functionality and an in-product experience with various VMware products (for example, the VMware Cloud Director App Launchpad).

With the addition of commerce, VMware Marketplace makes the customer journey even easier. Users can discover the right ecosystem solution, try it out, buy it right away if they’re happy with the trial, and then deploy that file directly to vSphere or other VMware locations – without ever leaving the UI of Marketplace.

And that’s not all

In addition to this key business capability, we also announced some exciting upcoming capabilities at VMworld 2021:

  • We plan to launch imaging features, which will allow any user – whether a VMware customer or a VMware partner – to provide us with code or a package that we can create, package. , verify, customize and publish for them in the format of their choice and deployable on the platform of their choice.

  • We plan to enable solution deployments directly from VMware Marketplace to cloud native endpoints such as AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform by packaging solutions in applicable formats (e.g. Amazon Machine Images (AMI) for AWS) .

  • We intend to launch VMware Application Catalog which extends the capabilities of Tanzu Application Catalog and enables the preservation and customization of virtual machine-based images in addition to the container images supported today.

Together, these changes will provide our customers with the ability to create an organized catalog of open source content, ISVs, and their own private images compatible with the cloud of their choice.
