LOUISVILLE Ky., Jan. 14, 2021 / CSRwire / – Victory Hemp Foods, a Kentucky-based primary food ingredients processor, recently launched a campaign to finance the regenerative production of hemp seeds on Steward, the world’s first CrowdFarming ™ platform. Steward’s platform provides investment opportunities for ordinary people, enabling them to invest in sustainable agriculture. Victory Hemp’s campaign will fund the purchase of hemp seeds from farmers who need upfront funding to invest in the health of their land. Lenders can contribute as little as $ 100 to the campaign.

Direct partnerships with farmers give Victory Hemp a clear vision of the challenges farms face as they attempt to diversify their operations and switch to organic and regenerative farming practices. As a public benefit corporation, Victory Hemp contracts only with American hemp growers and is committed to developing hemp grain as a positive addition to American agriculture.

One of Victory Hemp’s contract farms, Caro, Michigan-based Vollmar Family Farms has been a certified organic 6th generation family farm since 1996. Vollmar Family Farms is currently taking its commitment to farm stewardship to another level shifting production to regenerative organic practices — incorporating cover crops and minimizing tillage to nourish and protect soil biology — to achieve Regenerative organic certification (ROCK).

An essential tool for farmers, like most other businesses, is access to capital. In most cases, spending precedes income and farmers have to rely on banks for help. A large number of rural bank loan portfolios consist of farm working capital and asset-backed loans. Some banks are concerned about the risk profile associated with hemp due to regulation and / or market uncertainty (even as a legal and USDA approved food ingredient). In the case of Vollmar Family Farms, their bank simply did not allow them to withdraw their line of credit from their contracts with Victory Hemp, which was only learned mid-season.

Victory Hemp Foods Founder and CEO Chad Rosen is working with farmers to bring hemp into their rotations and has seen these banking challenges firsthand.

“When the USDA began to certify crops (and their products), organic production faced the same headwinds before markets were transparent and well established – it’s an old story repeating itself from one side to the other. new way, ”Rosen noted. “Thanks to Steward, we are able to exclude the banks from the deal, raise capital democratically from individuals who want to invest in the change they want to see, and earn a return much higher than what is expected. ‘a bank would pay for its money. “

Mark Vollmar, owner and operator of Vollmar Family Farms, sees hemp as an essential crop to incorporate into their rotation to achieve their regenerative agriculture goals. He is delighted to see the momentum building around the CrowdFarming campaign.

“We appreciate that Victory Hemp contracts our production for a fair price before planting and prompt payment on delivery. However, since we do not have access to our line of credit, we need an upfront payment for the inventory that is currently in storage to pay our owners. We believe this campaign will draw attention to the banking challenges that farmers face in hemp production, ”said Vollmar.

Crowdfunding via Steward is set up as a loan and not as a donation. The loan terms are set at an interest rate of 6%, with a term of 18 months, and fully amortized monthly payments starting 3 months after an initial deferral period. The minimum investment is $ 100.
