On Monday, the Seattle Seahawks announced they had released a defensive end Carlos dunlap.

This was not a surprising decision as Seattle will save $ 14.1 million in cap by cutting it.

However, it appears the organization is open to a reunion and Dunlap may consider returning to Seattle.

The two-time Pro Bowl defensive end has had great success during his short spell with the Seahawks.

It looks like the Seahawks want to bring Dunlap back at a discounted rate, but maybe the Cleveland Browns may outbid them for Dunlap’s services.

Dunlap Destroyer

The 32-year-old passer spent more than 10 years as a member of the Cincinnati Bengals.

However, the veteran defensive end became frustrated with his role on the team.

He was ultimately traded to the Seahawks in exchange for a seventh-round pick and a backup offensive lineman. BJ Finney.

Honestly, Dunlap was undervalued while in Cincinnati.

There was a period in the middle of his career where he didn’t miss a game for six consecutive seasons.

Dunlap is currently 12th among active players in the sacks with 87.5, according to Professional football benchmark.

He’s towards the back end of his career, but Dunlap can still play at an above-average level.

Last season, he recorded five sacks and 15 quarterback hits in his nine games in Seattle.

There will certainly be a deal for Dunlap, assuming he’s not already determined to sign with the Seahawks.

Should the Browns make an offer?

It looks like Cleveland’s front office is really keen to add another passer this offseason.

Both Olivier Vernon and Larry Ogunjobi are waiting for free agents, leaving a huge hole in the defensive line.

The Browns have plenty of room to add an important contract or two in defense this offseason.

Cleveland can give Dunlap something that many other teams can’t and it’s a Super Bowl chance.

“My two goals are always a Super Bowl and 100 sacks, and I haven’t completed either of them. I haven’t won any playoff games, ” says Dunlap.

The veteran passer is 0-5 in the playoffs, so maybe coming to Cleveland could help change that.

There is a potential fit for Dunlap in Cleveland, but is it a financially smart move?

Dunlap just signed a three-year contract worth $ 45 million which he signed in 2018.

He continues to play at a constant level, which means Dunlap will likely be looking for a deal of around $ 10 million per season.

Honestly, the Browns might be able to get similar production at a cheaper price elsewhere.

The front office should not be involved in the long term with a 32-year-old player.

It wouldn’t be surprising if the Browns decided to “kick the tires” on Dunlap, but we’ll see what happens.

He seems happy in Seattle and could very well return to the Seahawks at a reduced price.

Dunlap would certainly be a reliable option alongside Myles Garrett, but the Browns don’t need to overpay him with so many other options available this offseason.
