Welcome to the How to buy a house New World wiki guide page and IGN guides walkthrough. This page explains everything you need to know about homeownership in Aeternum, including the various benefits as well as the various costs you need to consider.

Buying a home in the New World is more important than you might immediately realize, as housing tends to take a back seat in other MMORPGs. On the flip side, the most important thing you can keep in New World is your house, which gives you storage expansions, up to five Global Buffs, and an easy ticket to recall to town at any time – given that you have enough Azoth to recharge the house booster cooldown.

If you’re ready to get started, let’s move on!

Buying your New World home is all about achieving several things. You will need to be at least level 15 to unlock your first house (and level 35 for your second house) before you can buy a house. Once you have done this, you must reach the minimum amount of permanent Territory for the zone in which you are purchasing your house. This is easy to do once you’ve taken a handful of permanent Territory bonuses; all you need to do is complete repeatable city projects and clear corrupted breaches in the area.

Reach level 15

Reaching level 15 is easy enough. You can do this by following the main quest line and completing city projects while gathering nearby resources and crafting items with them. Be sure to check out How to Level Fast to get a better idea of what you’ll need to do.

Achieve a sufficient territory position

Depending on the region, you may need to reach Ranks 10-15 before you can buy a home in the region of your choice. You can know which house requires you to have a certain territory rank, because when you approach and select a house, the on-screen GUI displays both the amount of coins the house costs, the rate of weekly tax and the minimum rank required to buy it. Be sure to follow IGN’s advice on achieving Territory Status so you can move up this leaderboard quickly!

Buy the house

The act of buying your home is pretty straightforward. When you’re ready, all you need to do is approach the house of your choice, walk to the door, press T when the on-screen prompt appears, you will see the Home Buy panel. On this screen, you can see each of the benefits of that particular home, along with the costs upfront and over time (via property tax).

If you want to take a look before you make your decision, you can always preview an empty version of the house you’re about to buy. This allows you to cover the entire floor space, which can help you decide if the accommodation space is right for you.

Each home is priced differently, which means you need to save your coins depending on the perks and size of the home you’re in the market for. The best way to earn coins is by selling unnecessary crafting resources in the Trade Stall, as well as by completing Main Quests and Side Stories. You can also earn a lot of gold by completing Expeditions like Amrine Excavation. Note that your first house is 50% discount in all cases! Make sure you

Property taxes

Property taxes in the New World are easy to understand and learn. Each week you will have to pay for your upkeep or you risk losing your home and every one of its perks. This variable cost is determined by the price of the house as well as whether your faction controls the region in which your house is located, as well as whether you are part of a business within your faction. You can also get a rebate on your property taxes that is equivalent to about 50% of the regular price of your first home.

When it’s time to pay your property taxes, simply walk into your home and press NOT which takes you to the tax payment screen. Note that you can only pay taxes every few days, and you cannot pay taxes in advance. You have to log in every week and pay the amount owed or you risk losing your home and all of its benefits.

House trophies

Each house can store up to five different trophies which each give you an advantage no matter where you are in Aeternum. The great part of this is that there is no region locking for any of these benefits. However, you can only have one bonus of each type, as similar bonuses do not stack.

You can craft trophies or (potentially) find them sold by other players at your local trade stall. Make sure to check market prices in other settlements before buying anything, because if you can get a better trophy for less in another colony, you might as well do that!

When it’s time to place your trophy in your home, simply return home and enter the item placement menu by pressing the button. B and navigate to your trophies in the left panel. Once you’ve chosen which one you want to place, arrange it anywhere you want in your home by moving it with your mouse, then left click when you’re ready to place it. You can see all the buffs of your trophies placed in the right panel.

House reminder

Home recall is a great advantage in owning a home. This allows you to have a second location that you can get to quickly from any point, in addition to the hostel you are registered with. To get to your home quickly, press M to view the map, go to the settlement where your house is located, then look for the icon that looks like a house. When you click on it, you get a screen that looks like this:

Now click on “Call Home” and say “Yes” on the next screen.

Your house reminder has a recharge timer that varies between four and six hours depending on the house, but it can also be refreshed by spending a bit of Azoth. It’s usually not too much, which makes your home the most convenient fast-moving point in the world. Just press the “Call Home” button again.

When prompted to reset the cooldown, select “Yes”.

Home storage

Storage of housing is one of the best aspects of owning a home. Each chest can dramatically increase the amount of storage space you can hold in a given colony, and that storage can be accessed from the city storage chest, or you can access it directly from your home’s chest (s). . The number of chests you can place in a single house depends on the quality (i.e. price) of your house.
