Many Veterans face lifelong challenges that can cause them to lose their homes and eventually become homeless. VA recognizes that every homeless veteran’s story is different, including their specific needs to help them regain permanent and stable housing. There are many VA benefits that can meet your specific needs, so it’s important that you know what benefits you may be entitled to.

VA Benefits for Homeless Veterans

Health care

The VA Health Care Network provides care to veterans across the country at VA medical centers, community outpatient clinics, and veterinary centers. Many of these facilities offer homeless veterans health care programs, including mental health services.

There are many federal housing programs that can help homeless veterans and their families. The US Department of Housing and Urban Development and the VA Supportive Housing Program (HUD-VASH) partner to provide ongoing, supervised housing and treatment services to homeless veterans.

How to register

Each VA regional office has a Homeless Veterans Outreach Coordinator who is a direct point of contact to let you know more about the benefits you are entitled to, help you apply for those benefits, and help you. refer them to other organizations and resources that will help you get back on your feet.
