Philippine Ambassador to China Jose Santiago “Chito” Sta. Romana encouraged Chinese companies to continue to seek business opportunities in the Philippines with the aim of further strengthening the collaborative ties between the two neighboring countries.

Sta. Romana made the statement at the 8th China International Trade in Services Fair (CIFTIS) in Beijing, China earlier this month.

During the Department of Tourism (DOT)-led conference titled “The Philippines Await: A Conference on Services in Tourism, Business and Agriculture,” Sta. Romana said the embassy will work to strengthen partnerships and other collaborative arrangements between Filipino and Chinese companies.

He added that such promotions in China have not stopped even with the emergence of coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

“Despite the challenges imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Philippine Embassy and the representative offices of tourism, trade, investment and agriculture have continued to promote their promotions in China,” did he declare.

Tourism Attaché Erwin Balane, Business Advisor Glenn Peñaranda and Agriculture Advisor Ana Abejuela made presentations to raise awareness in the Chinese market for tourism, trade and investment in the Philippines.

According to the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), the Philippine-led side event brought together representatives from various Chinese companies in the fields of aviation, travel and leisure, information technology and business. Agriculture.

The Philippine Department of Tourism (PDOT) -Pekin spearheaded the creation of a Philippine National Pavilion at CIFTIS showcasing the country’s tourist destinations, trade and investment opportunities, and agricultural products.

Visitors also had the opportunity to interact and network with representatives of Philippine partner agencies at the pavilion.
